About the Apprenticeship Program
Eli Whitney Technical High School Apprenticeship Program is a formal training program fully approved by the State of Connecticut Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship Training. Apprentice and extension courses are offered in the evening.
We provide related instruction for all license categories in the following areas:
Our program provides apprentices with a comprehensive knowledge of their selected career. They learn on the job while working under the supervision of an experienced journey-person and will be registered with an approved sponsor.
Students taking all coursework required for their license category graduate the program with all related instruction hours needed for their trade area and knowledge and skills necessary to get licensed with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.

If you need assistance with online registration, you may visit our location during the designated days and times listed below. Brand new students are strongly encouraged to go in-person for all activities to get oriented to the program.

In-person assistance will not be available on Labor Day, September 7th.
The semester will commence on September 21 and classes will run for 12 weeks.
Tuition Information
If you are a registered apprentice with a valid state apprentice ID card listing your current employer and are taking a state apprentice program class:

- Tuition: $325 per in-person course; $345 for online course*
- Non-refundable Registration and Technology Fee: $50
If you are a registered apprentice taking a course outside of your state apprentice program or are not a registered apprentice:

- Tuition: $350 in-person course; $370 for online course*
- Non-refundable Registration and Technology Fee: $50
We are now accepting online payments through ParentSquare, including credit cards, Apple Pay, and other electronic payment methods. There are no additional fees for students who choose to pay electronically. The cost to the student is the same regardless of whether payment is made online, by money order, or by bank check. After a registration request is submitted, an invoice will be generated within 24-48 hours. Once the invoice has been issued, payment can be made online through ParentSquare. Traditional payment methods, including money orders and bank checks, will continue to be accepted at the school location.
Certified bank checks or money orders are also accepted. No personal checks or cash will be accepted. Please make certified bank check or money orders payable to: Treasurer, State of Connecticut. An invoice may be printed during registration, and a receipt will be provided once payment is received.
*A $20 Tech Tutor fee applies to online classes. The Tech Tutor provides onboarding for new students and emergency technology support during classes.

What makes CTECS’ Apprenticeship Program unique?
CTECS curriculum is fully approved by the State of Connecticut. We work hand-in-hand with the CT Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship Training, and the CT Department of Consumer Protection (CT-CDP) Occupational Licensing Department to ensure coursework taken is viable and what is required for both industry needs, as well as licensure.
CTECS offers low tuition cost for students, when compared to other schools, and coursework is available at six convenient locations across the state. Learn more about our other locations and course offerings.
