Principal’s update
Good afternoon,
As we approach the end of the school year I would like to share some exciting pictures of our students and teachers in action, preparing our students today for tomorrows work force. Here are some photos of our Electrical students installing the underground branch circuits for some post lights that will illuminate a 300′ long driveway. Many of our Senior Electrical students have careers established post-graduation.
Part of the OSHA 10 Training the Electrical Freshmen is not only to learn about scaffolding, but to also learn how to safely and correctly erect and dismantle scaffolding.
- The following is a picture of our Carpentry and Plumbing students touring a job site with Dimeo Construction at the UCONN campus in Storrs Ct.
- The following link is to for our Culinary department including Chef Armstrong and junior culinary student Karen Torres Gonzalez, demonstrate how to make two different biscuit recipes on WTNH. Great job on the broadcast!!
- The seniors are also completing their career portfolios and participating in mock interviews in Plumbing, and career fairs hosted by Industry partners in Hairdressing.
- Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is an important aspect of human development. SEL is a process where children learn how to synthesize thinking, feeling and behaving to have successful experiences. SEL enables youth to recognize and manage emotions effectively, set and achieve goals, show empathy for others and make responsible decisions.
Kids are not born with social-emotional skills, but skills are developed and nurtured by caring adults through their developmental years. Thus, SEL is most effective when we can infuse SEL not only at home, but in the school environment.
Let’s have fun and engage in a home and school challenge because EMOTIONS MATTER. Each week we will learn a SEL vocabulary word and model that work in our interactions with each other at home and in school.
Week of 5/23/22:
SEL Vocabulary Word: Kindness
Meaning: A natural quality of the heart, expressed through an act of goodwill and reflecting care for self and others.
How to Demonstrate Kindness: say please and thank you more, give something, praise someone, speak gently, say something positive, encourage someone, be patient, smile, send good wishes, etc.
- Friday, May 27th is a half day-early dismissal.
- In regard to school safety, we will continue to meet with students regarding expectations. Ski masks should not be worn in school, as it leads to safety concerns and the lack of being able to identify students in the building. Students should follow their schedule appropriately. Students are not allowed to leave school property when arriving to school, for example going to Krauzers. Students should not come to school late with Dunkin Donuts or other fast food. School breakfast is available from 7:00 -7:25 am.
- As always, come to school prepared to learn, be on time, and in proper uniform. Ripped jeans, slides, mid-drif shirts, sunglasses and hats are not to be worn in school. Treat every day as preparation for college or a career!
Finish off the year on a positive note!! Have a great week and enjoy the sunshine! Mr. DiNatale
